about

Lunaire was mainly active from 2010 - 2015. Due to our shoe-string student budgets, we were never able to afford to record anything substantial or to tour.
Although we have moved on with our lives in a musical sense and otherweise, this band is still very special to us. It was a coming of age and a means for us to focus on something other than the usual trappings of youth.

For a time Lunaire played live consistently. Sometimes multiple shows a week and most often every other week. While we were never a super polished band we would all agree that seeing a young band give it their all can be quite remarkable and maybe we too, were sometimes remarkable.

Going back to record these songs was quite arduous but also very rewarding. We couldn't quite remember all the parts, we couldn't all quite make the sessions and it wasn't helped that it began and lasted the duration of Melbourne's lockdowns. Apparently the most locked-down city in the world at the time of writing.

Another factor was that although Lunaire had quite an extensive catalogue of unrecorded songs, the tracks here were written so long ago. Feelings and beliefs change as well as physical aspects such as the voice and it was tricky to try and record with the same spirit and performance of long ago. Although our fuzzy heavy songs, our guitar-pop smithsy tracks and our post-black metal slogs were never recorded, we're happy to share a reflection of our 'Idle Days' and hopefully the sensations here are in alignment with the same spirit as yours.

Take care,
Lunaire
